A fire in East Vancouver closed Commercial Drive near East 14th Street Thursday morning.

Vancouver Fire Rescue Services Assistant Chief of Operations Brad Hesse says the fire was upgraded to a two-alarm fire with 25 firefighters on scene.

“Crews were quickly able to knock down most of the fire from the exterior of the building, as it was contained to a balcony area in one of the suites,” he told CityNews.

Hesse says no injuries have been reported, but it is yet to be determined if the residents of the suite will now be displaced.

“Crews are inside right now, checking for extension of the fire,” he explained.
