The Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) is investigating an alleged assault aboard a bus in South Vancouver at the end of May that left a man with “significant injuries.”
In a statement Thursday, MVTP says just before 6 p.m. on May 23, a “physical altercation” happened between two men, who apparently didn’t know each other, as they were getting on the same bus at the Marine Drive Canada Line Station.

“During the course of the altercation, a bus window was broken and a bystander was injured,” the MVTP said.
Police say the incident continued on after the men got off the bus near SE Marine Drive and 70th Avenue, where the victim “suffered significant injuries including a broken jaw and severed finger.”
MVTP describes the suspect in the alleged assault as being between 25 and 35 years old, 6’1″, with shoulder-length brown hair. Police say at the time he was wearing a long-sleeve green sweater with a white shirt underneath, green shorts, white running shoes, and carrying a black bag.

“Investigators have exhausted all leads in this incident and are now requesting help in identifying the suspect,” Const. Amanda Steed said. “Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call police, as is the man himself. We would like to be able to piece together the series of events that took place during this incident.”
The MVTP is urging anyone who may have information about the alleged assault to contact Transit Police by phone at 604.515.8300 or by text at 87.77.77 and refer to file #23-9759.
