Pattullo Bridge to remain open Saturday, Sunday nights after all

Good news if you need to use the Pattullo Bridge Saturday evening: the northbound lane will be open after all.

The bridge was expected to be closed to traffic travelling into New Westminster between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday nights, as crews worked to install steel girders near the existing structure as part of the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project.

However, the work was finished earlier than expected.

TransLink made the announcement about the closure earlier in the week, saying that while it would be closed to vehicles, it would remain open to pedestrians and cyclists during that time.

“We thank bridge users and neighbours for their patience during this work,” TransLink said. “When completed, the new bridge will provide important improvements – including wider lanes separated by a median barrier and separate walking and cycling lanes.”
