Twenty-six new record-high temperatures were set across B.C. on Sunday, according to Environment Canada.
Locally, four communities — Vancouver, West Vancouver, Pitt Meadows, and Abbotsford — were among those hitting new highs.
1130 NewsRadio meteorologist Michael Kuss says Monday will be cooler, but there are still expected to be some new record highs set.
“Cooler air will follow the cloud today, but even with the cloud cover across the Lower Mainland, it’s still going to be hot, as the area will continue to be affected by warm southerly breezes,” Kuss said.
“Highs will get close to records again today, but we won’t see as many around B.C. as we had yesterday.”
Conditions are expected to return to near seasonal temperatures Tuesday, he says.
“Northwesterly winds will help push high temperatures back closer to low to mid twenties.”
