VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Two teens who can’t be named have been found guilty of manslaughter in the death of 21-year-old Matthew Skura.
Skura was beaten to death in a church parking lot near 63rd Avenue and 176th Street in Cloverdale in 2009.
Dale Carr with IHIT says two groups of friends got into a brawl, and things got out of control. “A tragic incident that occurred, between eight and 15 seconds, changed the lives of three families…Drugs and testosterone don’t mix, especially in young boys.”
He says Skura’s parents had to fly from New Brunswick to take him off life support.
One of the teens was also convicted on an aggravated assault charge. No word on whether the Crown will ask to have them sentenced as adults.
