VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – By spring, you’ll be able to board a passenger ferry to Victoria from Downtown Vancouver.
This comes as Clipper Navigation expands operations beyond its signature Seattle-Victoria route.
The new ferry is going to be bigger than the company’s two other big vessels, with space for around 400 people. The downtown-to-downtown trip will take around three hours.
“I would not even dream of doing it if I didn’t have the right piece of equipment and really know what I was doing. We’re very confident that we’ve chosen very wisely on this,” says Clipper chief executive Merideth Tall.
She tells us finding an appropriate ship was key.
“The currents and the winds can make it a tricky piece of water. It’s been hard for anyone to offer this service successfully. But we think — in fact, we’re very confident — that with the right vessel, this is going to be a wonderful route for passengers.”
Initially, the company will offer one round trip per day. It is also exploring a Vancouver-Nanaimo route.
Ticket prices have not been finalized.
