Mother of slain Merritt children, Darcie Clarke, dies

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The woman whose three children were killed by their father Allan Schoenborn more than 10 years ago has passed away.

Darcie Clarke died last night, and is being remembered as a fierce advocate for victim rights.

“Darcie had absolutely no peace over the last 11 years,” Dave Teixeira, a family spokesperson told NEWS 1130. “Her family was tormented by an evil man, then an uncaring justice and Review Board system.”

“My hope is Darcie’s legacy will be that we as a society care more for women, children, and victims of crime than a murderer, and provide better support for those who suffer from mental illness,” Teixeira added.

Schoenborn admitted to killing 10-year-old Kaitlynne, eight-year-old Max, and five-year-old Cordon in their home in Merritt more than a decade ago but was found not criminally responsible.
