VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Dr. Bonnie Henry is the most powerful person in Vancouver, according to an annual ranking from Vancouver Magazine.

It might not come as a surprise to many people considering her prominent profile since the pandemic began, and her calm approach to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many have touted B.C.’s early success in handling the pandemic to Henry’s approach, with murals, masks, and other memorabilia exploding in popularity.

Earlier this year, Vancouver-based footwear designer John Fluevog created a shoe in her honour, with many scrambling to nab a pair themselves.

Despite her success in the role and her handling of the pandemic, Henry also revealed she had received death threats leading to increased security required around her home.

Premier John Horgan was named the second most influential person in the province, with high approval ratings when compared to Premiers across the country, and securing a majority BC NDP government in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Minister Adrian Dix made an appearance at number three, as he stood by Dr. Bonnie Henry’s side during the COVID-19 briefings that continued throughout the year.
