Transit Police Media Relations Officer Clint Hampton says the station and ajoining bus loop were shut down for about half an hour.
“That was out of a report of a suspicious package in the area of Metrotown SkyTrain Station,” he says. “We were able to use our canine our explosive dogs to determine that the package wasn’t anything to be concerned of and we were able to get the SkyTrain and buses up and running fairly quickly.”
Hampton says while incidents like this don’t happen frequently, they do sometimes occur.
#SkyTrain UPDATE: Metrotown Station police incident has cleared. Expo Line service is resuming with some residual gaps in service as normal train frequency restores. We thank you for your patience. ^cm

“That’s why we’ve got canines out working on the system, and we’re able to usually clear them quite quickly.”
He says suspicious packages can be anything that looks out of place, or stands out.
“There is no specific for suspicious baggage and it’s really going to depend on people that see something that is suspicious to them, so we get all sorts of reports.”
