26 more COVID-19 deaths, as B.C. records 1,846 new cases over weekend

Twenty-six more lives have been lost to the COVID-19 pandemic in B.C. over the last three days, with 10 of these deaths in Fraser Health region and three in Vancouver Coastal Health.
Five new deaths were recorded in Northern Health, with another five in Interior health and three in Island Health.
A total of 1,846 new infections were recorded over the last 72 hours, with nearly 40 per cent (737 cases) in the Fraser Health region.

On Saturday, 753 new cases were recorded, 650 cases on Sunday and 443 new cases on Monday, for a total of 4,917 active cases across the province.
Vancouver Coastal recorded 212 new cases over the weekend, 322 new cases occurred in Interior Health, while cases in Northern Health continue to climb, with 406.
The province says 360 people are currently in hospital, with 151 of those in intensive care. This is a slight decline from Friday, when there were 367 people hospitalized with the virus.
People who have not been fully vaccinated accounted for 68.3 per cent of cases from Oct. 1 – 14, while unvaccinated people accounted for 74.6 per cent of hospitalizations.

There have been four new healthcare facility outbreaks over the weekend: Queens Park Care Centre, Heritage Village, Menno Terrace West (Fraser Health) and Amica Lions Gate (Vancouver Coastal Health). The outbreak at Joseph Creek Care Village in the Interior has been declared over.
The province now has a total of 22 active outbreaks, including:
Long-term care: Willingdon Care Centre, Westminster House, Magnolia Gardens, Manoah Manor, Cherington Place, West Shore Laylum, Queens Park Care Centre, Heritage Village (Fraser Health); Amica Lions Gate (Vancouver Coastal Health); Cottonwoods Care Centre, Overlander, Village by the Station, Haven Hill Retirement Centre (Interior Health); and
Wrinch Memorial Hospital (Northern Health).
Acute care: Mission Memorial Hospital (Fraser Health); University Hospital of Northern British Columbia, G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital (Northern Health); and Tofino General Hospital (Island Health).
Assisted or independent living: Sunset Manor, Evergreen Manor, Menno Terrace West (Fraser Health); and Cooper Place (Vancouver Coastal Health).
