Arrest made in connection to fatal Burnaby Metrotown stabbing

An arrest has now been made after a fatal stabbing at Metrotown in Burnaby this weekend, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
Burnaby RCMP were called to the mall entrance on Sunday at 11:40 a.m., where they found a victim suffering from stab wounds. They were rushed to hospital but despite lifesaving measures, they did not survive.
IHIT says Burnaby RCMP officers picked up the male suspect shortly after but are not releasing any details about the suspect or the victim at this point, including any motive for the attack.

Investigators only saying that the victim and the suspect knew one another and believe there is no threat to the public.
“Around the time of the homicide, there were several reports of other serious offences occurring in the area. Thankfully, there were no injuries as a result of these incidents. The Burnaby RCMP and IHIT continue to investigate these incidents and any connections to the stabbing,” IHIT said in a release Monday morning.
