Elderly woman killed in Vancouver’s 7th pedestrian death of the year

A 78-year-old woman has died in Vancouver’s seventh pedestrian death of the year.
The woman was crossing Beach Avenue at Broughton Street in the West End just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night when she was hit by a white Nissan SUV.
She was taken to hospital but eventually passed away from her injuries.

This latest death comes after a man died in a hit-and-run in Kitsilano late last month, while a cyclist died after a crash with a semi truck in Downtown Vancouver just a few weeks ago.
According to Vancouver Police Department, a 30-year-old man was arrested and has since been released to appear in court on a later date.
The police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the event, or who may have dashcam footage taken between 7:30 and 8 p.m. on July 26 to contact VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
