All Keremeos Creek wildfire evacuation alerts cancelled

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has rescinded all evacuation alerts due to the Keremeos Creek Wildfire.
Twenty properties were still on an Evacuation Alert from Aug. 17 which were situated along Green Mountain Road and the northern end of Marron Valley Road.

“The RDOS would like to thank BC Wildfire, the structural fire teams that helped protect homes, Emergency Support Services volunteers, and all the other groups that assisted local residents during this wildfire event,” the district said in a statement Tuesday.
Breaking out at the end of last month, the wildfire near Penticton forced the evacuation of more than 500 properties. At the height, approximately 1,600 properties were under an evacuation alert.
There are currently 221 active fires across the province, while the cause of the Keremeos Creek fire remains under investigation.
