Trina Hunt family renews $50,000 reward

The family’s call comes nearly two months after police arrested and then released a man in Port Moody.

The 48-year-old woman was reported missing by her husband Iain in January 2021. Her body was found in Hope two months later.

The Port Moody woman’s disappearance kicked off a massive community effort to find her. Police, search and rescue crews, and hundreds of volunteers scoured the area around her Heritage Woods home in the hopes of finding her.

But her case took a tragic turn nearly three and half months later. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirmed human remains found in Hope, B.C, in March had been identified as Hunt, though investigators did not divulge the discovery until May.

Previously, Port Moody Police said they did not believe foul play was involved in her disappearance, but the case was reclassified as a homicide.

On a Facebook post Thursday, the family said, “We will not give up, and we will continue to fight for you, Trina. You deserve nothing less.”

Hunt’s husband has not contributed to the award fund, the family says.
