Man shot in Surrey, police investigating link to car fire

Mounties are investigating after a man was shot in Surrey Wednesday.

Surrey RCMP says police responded to reports of shots fired around 5 p.m. near the Surrey-North Delta border area of 89th Avenue and 117 Street.

First responders found a man with serious injuries, and police say the initial investigation shows the incident is “isolated … and involves parties known to each other.”

In a statement, police say the 25-year-old victim was taken to hospital where he is in stable condition.

Early Thursday morning, police were then called to reports of a vehicle fire on 88A Avenue off 133A Street.

“Early indications are that this is a stolen vehicle, that fled the area after the shooting. Further analysis will be done to confirm any linkages to the shooting,” Const. Sarbjit K. Sangha said.
