Targeted Burnaby shooting sends man to hospital

A man is recovering in hospital after a shooting Monday night in Burnaby.

Burnaby RCMP says it happened around Nitsdale Street near Smith Avenue just after 10:30 p.m.

In a statement, Mounties say several people were found at the home, including a 47-year-old man who had been shot in the arm and leg.

“One male was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. … It’s yet to be determined whether it’s related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” Staff Sgt. Ed Hryciuk told CityNews.

Hryciuk says suspects related to the incident have not yet been identified or arrested, however, “there are early indications the shooting was targeted.”

The victim is expected to survive.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
