Gas prices across B.C. and the Lower Mainland are expected to rise on Sunday as we welcome in the New Year.
One industry expert tells CityNews that motorists will likely see a roughly three cents per litre jump at the pump.

The rise coincides with “a tax increase on gasoline and diesel as a result of the planned escalation in carbon taxes,” Paul Pasco, principal consultant at Kalibrate, explained.
“This price increase should be expected be permanent and remain in the market with planned annual escalations to continue in subsequent years,” he said.
The federal carbon tax is rising from $50 to $65 per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions, however, that particular levy does not apply to B.C. because the province already has its own carbon tax since 2008.
