An occupied Coquitlam RCMP vehicle was rammed after interrupting a gas station break and enter early Tuesday morning.
Mounties in Coquitlam are requesting public assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver who hit the officer.
Police say the break and enter took place at a Shell gas station on Pitt River Road in Port Coquitlam at 4:21 a.m.

Traffic images of the vehicle that rammed a Coquitlam RCMP vehicle were captured at an intersection on the Lougheed Highway near Pitt River Road.
“One of the male suspects was observed leaving the store with items in hand, when they observed the nearby police vehicle. The suspect dropped the items, entered an awaiting vehicle and drove directly into the responding officer’s vehicle,” reads a Coquitlam RCMP release.
The officer driving the vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Police officers often encounter violent situations and put themselves at risk during the execution of their daily duties,” said Coquitlam RCMP’s inspector Darren Carr. “Our officers are diligently working to identify and locate the suspects responsible in this blatant disregard for public safety.”
The two male suspects were seen wearing black masks and dark clothes, and are believed to be driving a newer Toyota Tacoma with major damage to it’s front end. The truck was last seen driving westbound on Pitt River Road.
Police ask witnesses with any information or video footage — including dash cam, cell-phone, and CCTV video — to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550, and quote file number 2023-5410.
