Body found in Maple Ridge, IHIT called in

The region’s homicide team has been called in after a body of a middle-aged man was found near Maple Ridge Secondary on Saturday.

In a statement, RCMP says frontline officers received a report from BC Emergency Health Services about a body located in the school’s parking lot.

“Police understand that the public will be concerned due to the proximity to the school”, Cpl. Julie Klaussner said. “When we have more information to provide to the public we will do so in a timely manner as possible.”

Police say they’re also investigating a possible secondary scene near Acadia and Dewdney Truck Road. However, they can’t confirm whether the two are related.

The cause of death is currently unknown but is being considered suspicious in nature.
