Lower Mainland gang conflict now ‘B.C. gang conflict,’ CFSEU says

In an effort to address the changing nature of the situation, officials say the Lower Mainland gang conflict will now be referred to as the B.C. gang conflict.

“Ongoing gang conflict that originated in the Lower Mainland is dynamic in nature, and no longer confined to the geographic area of the Lower Mainland,” A/Commr. Manny Mann with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU) said in a news conference.

“Province-wide strategies are key, as we’re seeing criminal groups moving throughout B.C., many parts of the country, and internationally, as they continue to try and expand their networks and illicit businesses, establish alliances and target each other.”

Mann says the gang conflict not only puts criminals at risk but the public at large.

“The levels of violence that they’re willing to go to and the disregard for the well-being of everyone continues to put us all at risk,” he said.
