BC Ferries cancellations plague some routes after high winds

A number of BC Ferries sailings between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island were cancelled Thursday afternoon, as high winds hit the region.

Several sailings between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay were scrapped due to the weather throughout the morning and early afternoon. The cancellations then led to increased demand, with all of the remaining sailings from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen Thursday sold out as of 4:30 p.m.

There are also few remaining spots on sailings from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay for the remainder of the day.

Meanwhile, sailings between Tsawwassen and Duke Point are also seeing major impacts from the weather. Cancellations have also led to sold-out sailings, with no more available for Thursday in both directions.
