Police in Abbotsford are looking for a suspect after a woman reported a man exposed himself to her nearly a month ago.
According to police, officers were called to Elwood Park in the area of Maclure Road east of Townline Road just before noon on March 30.
The man is said to have left the area before police arrived.
Since then, police say the woman “observed the same man in the park,” also around noon, this time on April 14. In this case, investigators say the man appeared to follow the woman before leaving the area.
“These two incidents are extremely concerning to us, considering the behaviour of this man,” Sgt. Paul Walker told CityNews Wednesday.
Police have since released a composite sketch of the suspect.
“On both days, these incidents were around noon, the parks were busy at the time, many people walking the trails and travelling along Maclure Road. So we’re really hoping that this composite sketch and people who were there might recognize this individual or provide further evidence with helping our investigators identify him,” Walker added.
He says it’s unclear if anyone else has experienced a similar incident in the park, adding no reports have been received that mirror what happened with the woman.
Walker tells CityNews police have increased patrols in the area and are “looking at some other things moving forward here.”
“Really the key and the main message would be, if people are in our parks, they’re seeing stuff that’s concerning, they’re observing behaviour that is unacceptable, call us … we will come out, we will investigate it, we will make an assessment, but we really need the help from the public on this one,” he explained.
The suspect is described as a man between 40 and 50 years old, being 5’8″ tall, and with grey hair.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
