High risk sex offender found in East Vancouver

A man wanted Canada-wide has been found in an East Vancouver park Sunday night.

Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it has re-arrested Kenneth Nolan Kirton who was wanted across the country after failing to return to his halfway house on Saturday.

Kirton was found at China Creek Park just before 11 p.m. after police received reports of a “man behaving erratically.”

Police consider Kirton at high-risk to sexually offend.

The 56-year-old is “bound by a long-term supervision order” which includes a requirement of living at the house, police say.

Kirton has been declared “a dangerous sex offender” by the VPD’s High-Risk Offender Unit since March 2020.

He was convicted of sexual assault in 1987 and is serving a 10-year long-term supervision order.
