TransLink is warning of delays for SkyTrain riders in Surrey beginning next month, as the transit provider undertakes track maintenance on its Expo Line.
With work running for about six weeks, from June 3 to July 18, TransLink says commuters should budget about another 20 minutes to their commutes while they upgrade track switches for the first time in 30 years.
TransLink says during the work, SkyTrains will only be able to travel on one side of the track between Scott Road and King George stations, which will greatly reduce the speed of the service.

“Surrey customers are encouraged to use Scott Road Station, when possible, as it will have the most frequent SkyTrain service in the area,” the transit provider said in a statement.
Customers who travel on the Expo Line in other cities aside from Surrey won’t be affected, TransLink says, adding that the Millenium Line and the Canada Line will be running at their usual schedules.
“The switches being replaced have helped carry more than five million trains since 1990. TransLink appreciates the patience of customers while these necessary upgrades are completed as quickly as possible,” TransLink said.
