Helicopter in Vancouver hoists new Rogers sign on former Shaw Tower

The rebrand of Shaw Tower in Vancouver after the company’s recent takeover by Rogers is hitting another milestone, with the iconic sign atop a downtown high-rise now donning its new name.

There was a repeat of helicopter sounds and road closures around Coal Harbour Thursday morning, as crews worked to hoist the new Rogers logo up onto the building.

A helicopter was used to remove the old Shaw Communications sign from the building on West Cordova and Burrard streets on Friday, May 26.

At the time, the helicopter was also bringing in parts of the new sign to a staging area nearby.

Closures were in effect on West Cordova and Thurlow streets, along with West Waterfront Road, from about 7 a.m. until 12 p.m. Thursday.

Rogers is the parent company of CityNews.
