Dancing, shopping, and tantalizing Greek eats are all part of the day as Vancouverites are heading to Kitsilano Sunday to join in the Greek Day on Broadway festival.
According to event organizers, the yearly festival “brings together locals and visitors alike to celebrate the rich heritage and culture of Greece.”
“Experience the energetic rhythms of Greek music and witness mesmerizing dance performances that will transport you to the shores of Greece. From traditional dances like zeibekiko and syrtos to modern interpretations, our talented Greek dancers will captivate your senses and invite you to dance along,” Greek Day on Broadway says on its website.
Locals can also taste traditional dishes like souvlaki, tzatziki, and spanakopita, or participate in a loukoumades-eating contest.
A number of vendors will also be at the event, and Vancouverites can also put their name in a draw to win a trip to Greece.
The festival kicks off at 11 a.m. and is scheduled to run until 9 p.m.
Police say West Broadway between Blenheim and Alma streets will be closed until midnight.
