More than 600,000 attendees for Vancouver’s PNE 2023 Fair

This year’s PNE Fair wrapped up Monday, and with it, memories for more than 626,531 attendees who sampled food, rode rides, and cheered for the SuperDogs.

The PNE says attendance over the 15 days of the Fair in 2023 was up by almost 100,000 more guests than in 2022 — an increase of almost 20 per cent.

“The combination of new attractions, the Summer Night Concerts lineup and traditional favourites really resonated with our guests this year,” PNE President and CEO Shelley Frost said. “Overall, the 2023 Fair was a tremendous success. We want to thank the hundreds of thousands of guests who continue to make the PNE Fair part of their summer, our vendors and partners, all of the performers and our staff team for making this year so special.”

As the Fair closes for the year, the PNE also says goodbye to its historic amphitheatre as demolition will soon get underway.

The 59-year-old outdoor stage is getting a massive makeover, with the new outdoor venue slated to be completed in 2026.

The new venue is expected to be able to host a crowd of up to 10,000 people. The organization says the amphitheatre’s roof will be longer than the Richmond Oval’s, and will be “one of the longest clear-span roofs in the world.”

Meanwhile, the Grand Prize in this year’s PNE Prize Home Lottery will be drawn on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the pacific Coliseum.

All revenue raised through the Prize Home Lottery heads back into PNE agriculture, community, and arts programming.
