Abbotsford dentist’s licence suspended over unnecessary treatments

An Abbotsford dentist has been banned from practicing for a year after giving patients treatments they didn’t need — and it’s his second run-in with the disciplinary board.

The B.C. College of Oral Health Professionals says Dr. Kyle Nawrot was ordered to pay $10,000 on top of his suspension.

According to a consent order issued by the college, Nawrot billed for treatments that weren’t needed, performed work without proper consent, and failed to maintain adequate records.

It adds Nawrot breached conditions of a disciplinary action he got back in 2020 for similar behaviour.

During his suspension, he will be permitted to conduct administrative or financial work in his business, but he will have to post prominent signs informing patients that his licence has been suspended.
