Charges laid in B.C. 3D-printed-gun investigation: CFSEU

B.C.’s anti-gang enforcement unit says charges have been approved against a man wanted in connection with a 2022 firearms manufacturing investigation.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. (CFSEU-BC) says it first received a tip about the alleged “manufacturing of Privately Made Firearms” in the Interior in December 2021.

The agency explains on Jan. 28, 2022, a man was arrested in connection with the investigation.

The CFSEU-BC says the man’s Kamloops-area home was searched, during which time investigators say a number of items were reportedly found. Those items included a tactical-style shotgun, ammunition and magazines, a 3D printer used in the manufacturing of firearms, three receivers printed using the 3D printer, and body armour.

According to the agency, charges were approved against 31-year-old Adrian Picketts-Yoxall on Oct. 10, 2023. He is facing two counts of firearms manufacturing, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of a non-restricted firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to order, and unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm.

“Illegal firearms, such as those made in someone’s home, are a major focus for police across Canada. CFSEU-BC is working closely with its partners across the province to investigate and disrupt the people and groups who may seek to illegally make and sell firearms,” said CFSEU-BC Sgt. Brenda Winpenny.

The CFSEU is asking anyone with information on Picketts-Yoxall’s whereabouts to contact their local police detachment or Crime Stoppers.
