Interior B.C. highways slick after snowfall, multiple crashes

The arctic air bringing snow to southern B.C. is making a mess of some Interior highways Wednesday.

The Coquihalla Highway, Highway 5, was closed early Wednesday morning after a “vehicle incident” just south of Merritt. The incident happened just after midnight, shutting the highway north of Hope.

The highway reopened in both directions around 8:30 a.m.

However, Highway 3 was closed east of Manning Park by DriveBC just after 8:40 a.m. after “multiple vehicle incidents” happened due to adverse weather conditions.

DriveBC said the incidents are near the Mine Hill Brake Check.

The highway reopened just after 11:30 a.m.
