Car crashes into Aldergrove Community Policing Centre

One person was hurt after a car crashed into the Aldergrove Community Policing Office Sunday, the Langley RCMP says.

Police say they received reports that the vehicle crashed through the Fraser Highway station just before 8:30 p.m.

“Officers responded and found several witnesses at the scene assisting a female occupant out of a vehicle that had collided with the Community Policing Office. First Aid was initiated and BC Emergency Health Services responded, took over care of the female and she was transported to hospital,” Corp. Craig van Herk said in a statement.

Video sent to CityNews shows the shocking moments the crash happened, with a person seen partially hanging out of the vehicle on the driver’s side when the car slammed into the building.

The RCMP would not comment on the video, only saying in an email to CityNews that “our investigators are still working through all the information and evidence that’s been gathered to this point to confirm what occurred.”

Witnesses told police that the driver of the vehicle the woman was in had run away from the scene. Officers say he was found just a short distance away.

“[He was] arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was transported to Langley Detachment for further investigation,” van Herk continued.

The RCMP believes the incident may have begun farther east on Fraser Highway, between 268th Street and 276th Street.

“Police are requesting anyone that may have dash cam, cell phone or surveillance video relating to this incident or anyone that witnessed the collision, the driving prior to it or has information about the incident to contact the Langley RCMP at 604 532-3200,” van Herk said.

The crash forced road closures into Monday. Fraser Highway opened at around 2:30 p.m.
