Missing Delta man may be in Point Roberts: police

The search for an 86-year-old man who walked away from his Tsawwassen home earlier this week continues, with Delta police saying it appears he may have walked across the border into Point Roberts.

Police say David Ho didn’t return home after his walk on Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. Investigators note the man suffers from “memory loss and a heart condition” but added he is “generally fit and mobile.”

“If he hasn’t slept properly, if he hasn’t found shelter properly, if he’s been cold, if he hasn’t eaten, that disorientation is going to potentially be magnified,” said Insp. James Sandberg.

In a social media post Thursday evening, Delta Police said CCTV footage confirmed Ho had “crossed the border into the Point,” adding while the department would “remain engaged, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office has assumed conduct of this investigation.”

Police have not released the location of where or when exactly he crossed into the U.S. enclave.

Prior to this update, police were asking for people in the Tsawwassen area to check their properties, parked cars, and anywhere else a person would “seek shelter from inclement weather.”

People in the Diefenbaker and Pebble Hills areas were also asked to keep an eye out for Ho and to review surveillance footage if they had any.

“David does not usually access transit and his car is at the family residence,” the Delta Police Department said earlier Thursday.

Anyone who sees Ho is asked to stay with him and to call 911.
