Charges laid after 2023 stabbing at Surrey mall

The Surrey RCMP says charges have been laid in connection with a stabbing at a local mall late last year.

Mounties say they received reports just before 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 that there was a fight inside Guildford Town Centre, and that one person had been stabbed.

Two people were taken into custody. Police say charges were approved against the two men last week.

“This incident occurred in a very public place and was concerning to police and the community. We are glad that the thorough investigation by our Serious Crime Unit has led to charge approval,” said Corp. James Mason.

Abdimalik Idle, 22, has been charged with assault with a weapon, while Tut-Kuoth Kong, 18, has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon.
