1 million travellers to go through YVR during spring break, Easter

An estimated 1.1 million passengers are expected to pass through the Vancouver airport over the next two weeks, breaking previous records.

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is gearing up to see more than a million passengers over the next two weeks of spring break and Easter.

And while you might not be able to trust the weather forecast, you can trust the terminals are going to be busy.

With that said, the airport is out with some advice for those who are jetting off out of Metro Vancouver.

YVR is urging people to “plan ahead” — make sure you have all your documents required for your destination, and have them handy for when you go to check-in and walk through security.

“Pack smart. Don’t forget to follow all Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) baggage requirements. Remember: liquids, gels and aerosols need to be in containers that are less than 100 milliliters and be packaged into one transparent, closed, and resealable plastic bag that is under one litre,” YVR said Tuesday.

The airport is also “strongly encouraging” people to arrive early — at least two hours ahead of your take-off time for domestic flights, and at least three hours for any U.S. or international destinations.

“This will ensure you can check in with your airline and drop your bags, if needed, and move through security screening with enough time to shop, dine and relax before you board your flight,” YVR explained.
