A second body was found Tuesday morning, Peter says, after receiving reports around 6:30 a.m. of a body floating in Middle Channel, south San Juan Island and west of Lopez Island.

“The sheriff’s boat was launched again, and the deceased body of one male was recovered from the water and turned over to the coroner’s office.”

Peter confirms both bodies have been turned over to the county’s coroner’s office for formal identification.

Daniel MacAlpine and Nicolas West were travelling on a tandem kayak between Island View Beach and D’Arcy Island on Saturday when they disappeared.

The kayak the men were paddling in was found on Sunday off the coast of Henry Island.

The men were last known to be kayaking between D’arcy Island and Island View Beach in Central Saanich on Saturday around 2 p.m, the North Saanich RCMP said over the weekend.
