Murder charge laid after fatal White Rock stabbing

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the deadly stabbing in White Rock last week.

In an update Friday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team explained Dimitri Nelson Hyacinth has now also been charged in the stabbing death of Kulwinder Singh Sohi.

Sohi was found suffering from fatal stab wounds last Tuesday along the White Rock Promenade.

Earlier this week, Hyacinth was also arrested and charged with aggravated assault in connection to the first non-fatal stabbing that happened in the same area, just two days earlier.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jatinder Singh was sitting along the waterfront with his wife when a suspect allegedly came up and stabbed him in the back of the neck, inflicting serious injuries.

The two violent incidents in about as many days had the community raising concerns about safety along the White Rock waterfront.
