Pet area coming to BC Ferries Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay route

Good news for pet owners hoping to take a trip to Vancouver Island.

The major Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route will soon offer an outdoor dog and cat area.

BC Ferries says all four vessels that sail on the route will have a pet area on the upper decks later this summer.

Last year, BC Ferries started offering similar pet areas on a handful of routes, including vessels between Nanaimo and Horseshoe Bay.

Owners will have to keep their dogs on a leash no longer than one metre and cats need to be in a travel carrier at all times.

There also will be a designated pet stairwell for the pets to head up and down from the vehicle decks.
