Yaletown bar site of early morning drive-by shooting: police

A portion of Hamilton Street was closed to traffic Wednesday morning. As Jack Morse reports, Vancouver police are investigating after multiple shots were fired at the Isabelle Bar and Lounge.

A bar in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood was the site of a morning drive-by shooting Wednesday, the Vancouver Police Department says.

In a statement to CityNews, Const. Tania Visintin explained that the business was closed at the time of the shooting, just after 8:00 a.m.

“As of now, there are no known injuries to anyone,” she stated.

“The motive is unknown at this time and suspect(s) is/are still outstanding. The investigation remains ongoing,” Visintin added.

The amount of physical damage done to the business, police say, is still being assessed. Police shut down Hamilton Street between Davie and Helmcken streets, and look to be focusing their investigation on Isabelle’s Bar and Lounge.

“This happened in a busy area when people were trying to get to work. So because there is still a lot of unknowns at this time, it definitely is concerning anytime something occurs in the city,” said Visintin.
