80 Ave reopens after fatal crash in Langley

One person is dead after a crash in Langley Wednesday morning.

In a statement, the Langley RCMP says Mounties received reports of the crash on 80 Avenue between 197 and 199 streets just after 5 a.m.

“An SUV was travelling east on 80 Avenue when it lost control and struck a tree. The subsequent collision resulted in the driver being ejected and the SUV sustaining significant damage leaving a noticeable debris field across the entire roadway,” Mounties said.

Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service Corp. Dave Noon says the crash closed a portion of 80 Avenue in both directions. As of Wednesday afternoon, TransLink said 80 Avenue had reopened.

Police say the driver, who has yet to be identified, died from their injuries at the scene.

“Initial investigation has identified a related collision scene at 192 Street and 80 Avenue. The SUV struck a road sign at this location and continued to travel east on 80 Ave to the second collision in the 19800 block,” Mounties shared.

Footage from the scene shows a heavily damaged Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck and a damaged tree with strewn debris across the road.

Anyone with information, including dash cam footage around the area of 80 Ave between 192 Street and 198 Street, is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file# 24-22610.
