HWY 99 in Surrey reopens after 2 people killed in rollover crash

The Surrey RCMP confirms that two people were killed early Monday morning after a rollover crash along Highway 99.
According to Mounties, officers were called to the incident just before 3:40 a.m., after reports of the crash in the northbound lanes between 16th and 32nd avenues.

The driver and a passenger were located deceased inside the vehicle and police are working to identify the victims in this collision,” Sgt. Tammy Lobb said in an update on Monday.
In a post on X, Corp. Dave Noon of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) says the team has been deployed to the scene, while the Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has assumed the conduct of the investigation.
“The investigation is in the early stages and investigators are working to identify all factors that led to this fatality,” Lobb added.



Mounties are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera footage of the area to come forward and call 604-599-0502.
Highway 99 in Surrey remained closed to northbound traffic throughout most of Monday as police investigated.
Around 5 p.m., 1130 NewsRadio confirmed that the highway had reopened in both directions.
