Police in Burnaby say a pedestrian was the victim of a hit-and-run while crossing a street Wednesday morning.
The Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian around 6:45 a.m. at Canada Way and Burris Street.
“Reports indicate the pedestrian was crossing the street when a vehicle turning left onto Canada Way eastbound failed to yield and struck the female pedestrian, injuring her arm,” Mounties said.
They say the driver did not remain on scene, and the victim, a 64-year-old, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, but no description of the vehicle nor driver is available yet.
“Investigators have obtained dashcam video that shows the incident, but have not yet been able to identify the vehicle or driver involved. If you are able to identify the suspect vehicle or have any information related to this incident, please contact the Burnaby RCMP,” Cpl Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP said in a press release.
Police are also looking to speak with the driver of a white pickup truck that drove northbound on Burris St. through the intersection just prior to the collision to seek other dashcam footage.
Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage in the area on Dec.11, between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., or anyone with information on the vehicle or the suspect, to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file 24-42691.
