A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being hit by a bus near Metrotown Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police have confirmed the pedestrian was struck just before 2 p.m. on Central Boulevard outside of the Metrotown SkyTrain Station.
“Officers and BC Emergency Health Services arrived on scene and provided care for a man in his early 30s, who was trapped under the bus,” said Metro Vancouver Transit Police media relations officer Const. Amanda Steed.
“The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.”
Central Boulevard was closed following the collision but has since reopened.
Steed says transit police will work with the Burnaby RCMP collision investigation team to determine the events that led up to the collision.
In an update Friday morning, TransLink says the pedestrian suffered a broken ankle in the incident.
