Metro Vancouver police rescue eagle holding up traffic on Lions Gate Bridge

A young bald eagle is recovering after being rescued by members of the Vancouver and West Vancouver police departments this weekend.

The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) says the injured eagle was found on the Lions Gate Bridge “during rush hour.”

Pictures posted on social media Tuesday showed the bird standing on the bridge deck and sitting on top of a police cruiser.

The WVPD did not describe the nature of the bird’s injuries.

The eagle was eventually caught, put in a carrier, and transported to the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Delta.

“Where it will be nursed back to health,” police explained.
