The Vancouver Police Department is on scene in Yaletown Friday after an early morning stabbing near the Canada Line Yaletown-Roundhouse Station.
In a statement to 1130 NewsRadio, the VPD says it’s investigating the incident that happened outside of a condo building near Mainland and Hamilton streets just before 1 a.m. “after a verbal altercation.”

“Officers were able to locate both the victim and the suspects in that area,” she said. “One person has been arrested. The victim was taken to hospital.”
According to police, the 32-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Visintin believes the victim was stabbed in the arm.
Visintin adds that two 18-year-olds have been arrested and remain in custody.
At the condo building just a couple of doors from the station along Mainland Street, blood splatters could be seen in the entranceway and directly outside on the sidewalk.
Meanwhile, the BC Emergency Health Service says it was called to the incident at 12:43 a.m.
“One ambulance with primary care paramedics, one ambulance with advanced care paramedics and one paramedic supervisor responded to the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital in serious condition,” said Public Information Officer Rachelle Bown.
Police had closed the station temporarily while investigating the scene. The station re-opened to commuters around 8:45 a.m.
Visintin says that the stabbing wouldn’t necessarily be considered by police to be a “stranger attack,” as there was some kind of altercation that led up to the incident.
“But it is concerning nonetheless to have this type of violence happen as a result of an altercation. Of course, it is very concerning.”

Anyone with information about the stabbing is being urged to contact the VPD’s Major Crime Unit at 604-717-2541.
