According to police, Xu hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

On Sunday, an official search was undertaken near Crescent Beach.

“As information came in to police throughout the day on Sunday, the search, with the assistance of South Fraser Search and Rescue, Canadian Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, was concentrated in the Crescent Beach area. While some of the additional resources have been paused since Sunday night until more information hopefully comes available, police are still searching the area(s) around Crescent Beach and Mud Bay,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said.

Community members are now searching around the shorelines of the areas identified by police, search party organizer Tanya Johnson shared on social media.

“Thank you everyone for your care and support. We are coming together as a community,” she shared.

In a further statement to 1130 NewsRadio, the SPS says, “Given the weather conditions search and rescue efforts were paused since the weekend.”

“As time goes on, there is less hope of finding her. [Search and rescue] and marine resources have not been reactivated since the weekend but police resources remain active and continue to patrol the area (Mud Bay, Crescent Beach, Beach Cove, Centennial Beach),” Houghton added.

Xu is about 5′ 2″ tall and has black hair. Police say she may be wearing a yellow jacket.

More to come.
