Protest outside Port Coquitlam Courthouse as Iain Hunt’s appearance delayed until April

A small protest was held outside the Port Coquitlam Courthouse Wednesday morning, where the man facing charges in connection with the death of Trina Hunt was supposed to appear.

Trina’s husband, Iain Hunt, has been charged with indignity to human remains after his wife’s body was found near Hope months after she was reported missing in 2021.

Trina’s cousin-in-law, Stephanie Ibbot, tells CityNews that protesters weren’t told the reason for the delay.

“We know nothing. We know as much as everybody else knows on that, which is nothing,” she said.

“The message that we want to serve, and why we are holding the rally still today, is that if the delay came from his side, you can delay it all you want, but we are going to show up and fight for Trina every time.”

Ibbot says she, along with other protesters, will continue to show up no matter what.

“Trina was family, and we want to see this through to the end. So, we will take the days off work, and we will travel down here as much as we need to,” she said.

Ibbot says they are still angry and baffled by the charges laid.

“We are Trina’s voice now and we are going to be loud.”
