A protest outside a Tesla dealership in Kitsilano is set to take place on Saturday, as part of a “global day of action” to “hit [Elon] Musk where it hurts.”
Organizers say the Tesla Takedown protest is a chance to push back against “Musk, Trump, and the Tech Broligarchy” and “stop the ideology espoused by Musk and Trump.”
“While Elon Musk is directly destroying democracy in the US, his ideology and his work with DOGE is going global — including Canada,” organizers state.
“So many people want to push back and feel helpless. Here is our chance. Bringing down Tesla will hit Musk where it hurts, and will be a signal to the rest of the world that we are ready to mobilize,” they added.
The protesters are urging Tesla owners to sell their vehicles, dump their stocks, and join the protests.
“We’re tanking Tesla’s stock price to show Musk and the world that we do not accept their views,” organizers said. “Stopping Musk will help save lives and protect our democracy (in Canada!).
“Tesla Takedown is a peaceful protest movement. We oppose violence, vandalism, and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our right to peaceful assembly,” they added.”

In preparation for the protest, the Vancouver Police Department says it is deploying dozens of extra officers over the weekend to “maintain order and protect property following a dramatic increase in crimes targeting Tesla products.”
“While everyone is entitled to express themselves lawfully and peacefully, nobody has the right to use violence, damage property, or intimidate others,” Const. Tania Visintin said. “There are a number of protests planned this weekend against Tesla, and we’re deploying a heavy police presence to make sure these protests remain lawful.”
The VPD says it is now investigating 28 incidents since January 20, which it says look to be “politically motivated and in opposition to Tesla CEO’s affiliation with the United States Government.”
“We understand many people are distressed by world events and are looking for ways to vent their frustration, but damaging private property is not the answer,” added Visintin. “We encourage people to express themselves peacefully, lawfully, and with respect for others. Anyone who breaks the law will face arrest and charges.”
The VPD says that along with the protest outside the dealership in Kitsilano on Saturday, there are more than a dozen other demonstrations and events planned for the city, requiring the need to deploy a further 130 officers throughout the weekend.
