4 arrested after police chase that resulted in 2 officers being sent to hospital in Langley Thursday

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story had stated the robbery had taken place at 160th Street and 250th Avenue.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says a police chase in Langley that resulted in three people — including two officers — being taken to hospital Thursday ended with four suspects being arrested.

Sgt. Tige Pollock says police had been searching for suspects in a robbery at 160th Street and 25th Avenue in South Surrey Wednesday. One of the suspects produced what officers believed to be a firearm and then drove away.

On Thursday, police located the vehicle in the 200th Street area of Langley. Multiple units, including a helicopter and canine unit, were mobilized.

“During the investigation, officers made an attempt to stop the suspect vehicle,” Pollock said.

“However, this was unsuccessful, and it resulted in a collision involved the suspect vehicle and police vehicles.”

There was also a second collision between an unrelated civilian vehicle and a police vehicle.

“The driver of the civilian vehicle suffered minor injuries and is currently being investigated for impaired driving,” Pollock said.

“Two police officers were taken to hospital as a result of the collision, and a suspect received treatment for injuries unrelated to the crash.”

Pollock says the four people were arrested at the scene. The investigation into the robbery is ongoing.
