Hit-and-run claims life on Interior B.C. highway

A tragic hit-and-run left a young man dead on Highway 97, just south of Oliver, B.C. over the weekend.

According to the BC Highway Patrol in Keremeos, a 22-year-old man from Surrey was struck by a vehicle while walking along the side of the highway near Cassini Cellars Winery.

The incident happened on Sunday, June 15, around 4:22 p.m.

When police arrived at scene, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver reportedly did not stop.

The incident is now under investigation, and the BC Highway Patrol is asking the public for help.

“Please contact BC Highway Patrol in Keremeos if you are able to assist at 250-499-2250,” said Const. Clyde Feero with the BC Highway Patrol in a statement.
