‘Person overboard’ after ferry leaves Tsawwassen terminal

BC Ferries says rescue crews were called out to the waters near the Tsawwassen terminal after someone went overboard off the Spirit of Vancouver Island.
According to the corporation, the incident occurred shortly after the ship left the berth for its 1 p.m. sailing to Swartz Bay.

The person was retrieved by BC Ferries crews and was taken back to the Tsawwassen terminal.
From there, the BC Emergency Health Services transported the person to the hospital in stable condition.
The Spirit of Vancouver Island has resumed its sailing to Swartz Bay.
BC Ferries currently calculates a one-hour delayed arrival.
